Hat Thinking Net Book Reflection

In Year six we use net books.  We are in our second year of this approach to learning and I could never have imagined school without a net book. we really owe it all to the corporations that helped us to
reach this achievement.

Some cons about our netbooks are no movie and animating programmes. We are a creative school and animating is a major part of our learn create and share process as well as movie making. Another Problem is the mouse pad and it is hard to draw with so that is why we need mouses.

In the future I could use mine as a gift because Chromebooks will be in soon. We really need mouses and movie and animating programmes in the future and we could solve that by searching the internet and use the internet programme to do so.

So that is my netbook reflection for year six 2012.

Can you believe that Telecom gave us an opportunity to go to the Telecom Christmas tree lighting at Victoria Park. We all enjoyed our free food given to us and buying lots of waffles and Ice-Cream. On a freezing cold night.

We listened to Titanium and two other artists and listened to Oscar Kightley ( albert off siones wedding. ) We wished for Santa to bring us stuff. My Nana Angelo (little brother) And I Enjoyed ourselves.

Oscar Kightley Talked to santa and told us how to turn on the tree. We had to Say Ho Ho Ho. We tried the first time it went a quarter
Thank You Telecom For that wonderful time and a nice time for me and my family. I have really enjoyed that time and eating delicious food. I really dig listening to Titanium and colouring But to sum it up in three words.Thank You all !

Camp Bentzon Sad Times

Oh man. I can’t believe it’s over, all those fun filled adventures and delicious meals Followed by a great concert. But still Camp Bentzon is over. all those journeys and thrilling sites we are now at school sweet school.

But it was so fun before it was over and one of the best things for me would be wallaby spotting with my two friends Jacob and Isara and Miss garden was our adult. We saw a wallaby up in the hills. Isara chased one and one near the confidence course.

Another highlight was eating Mr Coop’s Delicious meals and especially his bread. His hot dogs were yum. Burgers were delicious. and our last meal of filled rolls and chocolate fish, but every breakfast I would have muesli with fruit and honey.

A thrilling new activity for me was sailing. I learnt how to solo sail and a lot of helpful techniques and tips. We sailed to a pontoon then to typhoon a orange buoy and back to our green boat shed.

We also completed a confidence course. It wasn’t that hard to complete it because we only had to climb up a slant way ladder, and a rope ladder, monkey bars, swinging on a rope to a bank, a rope bridge and then one when you balance to a bunch of hanging tyres where you swing across them to a rope when you then slide down.

We also tried a lot of different activities such as kayaking, raft making, volley ball, bush baseball, bivouac, spotlight, Rippa rugby, Bombing off the pontoon and wharf, orienteering, Burma Trail and movie night.

unfortunately our four nights there are over we will see Kawau island sometime soon. But for now i’ll just concentrate on school and home. I have really enjoyed this experience.

Camp Bentzon Rocks!!!

One more day. Finally the wait is over.

CAMP BENTZON HERE WE COME! Room 17 and other classes are going to Kawau Island tomorrow on a school Camp. The time we have to be here is seven in the morning  to catch the bus.

Kawau Island is 8 km off The Main Land and has barely got population on it But when we go it’s going to be swarming with people. We get there by bus then we get to Sand Spit where we swap to a Ferry where we get to travel across water. That’s gonna be fun.

Camp Bentzon Is going to be fun because there are a lot of cool things to do like Sleeping, Jumping off the pontoon into the water, Volley ball tournaments, adventure play ground and confidence course and a whole lot more.

I am looking forward, to sleeping with my friends and jumping off the pontoon and most of all the delicious food.I am also looking forward to a nice break from home.
I think a challenge for me is getting to school before 7 am to catch the bus. because of the new baby brother it is gonna be hard to do him fast enough. other than that i’m alright.

I am really looking forward to camp and I think it is going to be the best camp i’ve been to. I CAN’T WAIT!!!

Operation flax

One girl named Freya and her mother were trying to save the flax bush outside. So, Freya and her mother tried to persuade her to keep it. Because it was part of their heritage they always made stuff out of it. They thought of an idea to stop them taking it away. Freya mixed up some bird syrup and hung it on the bush. Tuis came and ate the syrup. It made the neighbour's husband happy because he had never seen that much tui in a long time. They decided to keep the flax.

Triathlon

Our class did triathlon for fun. First we had a practise and then we did the real one.I didn't come anywhere but it was fun.

“GO!” was all I heard when I slid across the water slide for Triathlon, the reason we slid on the water slide was because we weren't at the beach. I slid to the end with a serge of excitement rushing through my body.I went around once, twice, three times, four times, five times until we were told to run for transition. Transition means change area.

We clicked on our helmet and walked our bikes out of transition. I pedaled with all the strength in my legs. I did one lap on the field then two. I pushed my bike in to transition.

READY TO RUN. “You can do it.” was what I was saying to my self trying to boost my confidence.I ran to the end with happiness over whelming me. “Yeah.” said Howard with a hand shake and a pat on the back.

Unfortunately I didn't come First second or third But I still tried my hardest and that is what counts in a Triathlon. I walked back to class feeling good about myself and for my friend Howard for coming first.

GUY FAWKES WAS THE BEST!!!

Walking across the Warehouse I was deciding what fireworks I was going to buy with my bit of money. Carelessly noticing what my little brother Angelo was going to get. Then with no warning my mother said that we were going so I just grabbed one of those and one of these and there you know it, my mind was made up. Skadadling with my brother and mother to our car.
..
I had sore arms from carrying a Big boom box, a fountain fiesta a black bad boy and two sparkler packs. Angelo had his load as well. My mother just got an Astro blazer for the family at my nana’s house because they weren't celebrating Guy Fawkes.A demolition family pack is all we needed  for my little brother and sister and the one and only dad. My brother and I talked all the way home about what we are going to do with our fireworks. My mother talked about what we had to do before we lit them by our selves, and friends.

The whole neighbour hood came to enjoy a fun filled night with us. I really loved how my friend came and showed support by bringing his box.
KABOOM!  Light filled the sky with, rays of colour here and rays of colour there. We sat back lighting little cascades and throwing them onto the ground. My friend made a bomb with a bottle and made a small crater in the grass.

Guy Fawkes was the best !

The Bush

   THE BUSH
                                                                 based on a true story.

Long ago in a small place called Waikare bush It was grey and dismal outside But that didn’t stop us going hunting with our uncle Collin. Angelo and I were out hunting as well. We scoured the bush clinging the knife tightly with our teeth as well as holding a slug gun.

We searched high and low to find a Sow or a wild Cow or even a Boar. “here piggy piggy piggy piggy.” My uncle said continuiously.Until we heard a snap. we turned around to see  a moving bush, when it stopped we saw another bush moving, then another, then another. Until...My little brother angelo jumped out.

“You almost gave me a heart attack then Boy.” my uncle said. We saw a bush moving then we turned around and said “Angelo get out of there.”
“Im over here said angelo.”
My Uncle turned around with a small grin on his face and a gleam in his eye. He winked at us with his slug gun pointing directly at the bush. With the sound of angelo nibbling on his teeth. Angelo Whispered “Can we go home.” My uncle said “Herenga ki te whetu.” champions never give up. A silence broke through out the bush.

Suddenly a giant wild Boar dashed towards us, my uncle shot and CLICK, He forgot to load. I leaped onto a tree stump grabbed the knife from my mouth and Jumped with a frantic surge of panic going up my spine, I stabbed the pig in the back. he ran for uncle still when it trembled to the ground right in front of uncle collins knee.

I jumped with joy with my uncle sighing because angelo went missing. We looked every where and even in creeks. When we heard a faint noise from a distance calling “Calvin Uncle.”We ran as fast as we could.we found a cave with angelo trapped in between two rocks.”How did you get in there boy.” Uncle said. I was up top hiding when it cracked and collapsed. About then we were worried that angelo was a gonner when we could hear a cracking. The top of the cave was about to crack and now the pressure was on. we shot the rocks with all the bullets we had but they were only slug guns. We hacked at the rocks but they did no effect so I thought of something crazy.Using the tusk of the boar we loaded the slug gun and shot seven  pieces of the tusk one at a time when crack. The rock broke and Angelo ran out and hugged us.the rocks fell and we sighed with relife. “Phew.”

We walked home with a boar around my neck and we all went to bed full from dinner. I thought of what would’ve happened to angelo if we never caught that boar. when flash I woke up to see that it was just a dream.

Olympic hero.JIM THORPE!!!

We were asked to investigate an Olympic medalist and then to write a report about this athlete.
We focussed on hooking our readers in and I created an animation to tell the story.

Hi my name is Jim Thorpe I am an Olympic Gold medalist from 1912 and won the Pentathlon and Decathlon. I was part Indian and grew up in Indian territory in the USA. I got married and had two children named Gale and Bill.

I signed to the New York Giants baseball team. In 1913 I also played professional foot ball for the Pine Village Pros.

I had my medals taken off me more than 6 months after the 1912 Olympics because under the rules at the time no athletes were able to be sports teachers or paid for playing sport. I was paid about $47 for playing baseball.

I died on 28  March 1953, Later on, in 1983 years later my wife got my medals  back with one piece of paper stating the 1912 olympic rules. They gave my medals back after I died and I never got to see them one last time. And they were not even my real medals because they were stolen, so commemorative medals were given to my two kids, Bill And Gale.

Olympic Day

Knock smack bang my eyes were going back and forth well the ball was going back and forward in a game of four square. The reason why we were playing four square in school time was because it was an event for our school wide Olympic day.we have it every four years like the national Olympics. We are all  separated into different countries.I was in Uganda.

I dressed up in yellow black and orange t-shirts and yellow black and orange shorts as well.you might of thought I was pretty hot in all those clothes but really I wasn’t . heaps of other people were dressed up in sports clothes and some people who put in the extra effort (like me) wore colours or something to do with their country.

We played A range of events such as ultimate Frisbee, three legged soccer, European hand ball (my favourite) and much more.My favourite sport was European hand ball because it is so fun.You have six steps with the ball and every three steps you have to bounce then pass the ball or shoot for the goal.

I highlight for me was spending time with my family who came to support me and my friends as well as showing off my magnificent clothes.I know I am not going to be here in four years time because I will be in college but one day I am going to do that again.

How To Make A Box

If you want to know how to make a box and really make your friend jealous then read this post.Plus, there are cool things you can turn it in to as well.

STEPS:

Step 1: fold the paper in half  and fold other half to make quarters then  unfold to make a crease.

Step 2: then grab the top of the paper and fold to the middle crease then do the same to the bottom and unfold to make a crease.

Step 3: then fold the sides in the same way to make a crease then unfold then it should look like this.

Step 4: then grab the sides and fold to the middle like this.

Step 5: fold bottom and top corners to the first crease like this.

Step 6: fold the paper in the middle over the top of the triangles as shown.

Step 7:  put your fingers under the flaps and pull to make your box.

!!! Now Get Crazy And Decorate!!!

Suggestions.

You could put a lid on it and turn it into a piggy bank.

you could make it a holder for some arty things

or you could make it in to a cool rocket jet.

Have fun with your box!

Another Leaf On The Family Tree

Boring old Saturdays, the only thing to do is play with my boring old brother and play boring old games that we played last boring day...

Until, knock knock knock went the door, it was my Mum. I could not have been happier to see my little baby brother in her arms my Aunty was with my mum as well. She gave me the baby and I looked at it and smiled.

He looks weird and funny looking but I still love him though. We decided what to call him Sampson.I think it would be cool to have a brother named after me.

I put the baby down gently and watched it sleep for a while then out of nowhere he broke the silence and cried for something to eat.My mum finished feeding the baby and I sat and talked to it about the family tree and I don’t think she could understand any thing I said.

BUT THAT’S WHAT MADE IT CUTE AND THATS WHAT MADE ME SMILE.

Shot put tutorial

Shot put is a event of track and field. For people who aren’t that keen on shot put and want to know how to step your game up. Use the following text to help you.

In shot put shot put there is a technique called glide. In glide you stand at the backwards and rotate 160 angle and then release.

There is another technique only males can use, it is called spin or spin style. you stand backwards and rotate 360 degrees using your left leg as a pivot. Then use your other leg as a pivot, next rotate  anther 360 degrees, then turn 360 degrese and release the ball. Once the ball has left your finger tips your leg should have touched the floor.

In shot put there is a seven foot circle for you to spin and do your technique. If you stand out of it your put does not count. There is a stop at the front of the circle so you don’t go over the edge.

On the field there is markings of the length if you go out of the boundaries you can fail your first put or your second. if you go past a mark of the other thrower you are winning.

If you still think you haven't learnt that much about shot put and want to know more click here to find a good Wikipedia site.thanks Wikipedia.

The Olympic creed

The most important thing in the Olympic games is not to win but to take part. Just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

I hope you have been inspired by the creed of the Olympics.

Why does a bee sting you?

If a bee feels provoked or annoyed  it is then alarmed and turns to self defence mode. There is a rule that it can only sting if it is threatened. They barely use this weapon that nature has given them.

The stinger of a bee is a fine sharp barbed tube. If a bee stings it can inject a drop of poison as well. It is the work of the worker bee because they are the ones that sting.

The bee only stings once but when the bee stings, the person usually knocks the bee away this with draws the bee from pulling the stinger out naturally.

A bee can sting as many times as we let it, if we do not whack them from their stinger.

                                                    __________

In boxing there is a blue person and a red person. The things you need is boxing gloves especialy and helmets. The object of the game is to hit the person with punches no holds no kicking. The first one to get knocked to the floor for ten seconds or gives up OR if they get knocked out first loses.

This is my picture of me punching someone in boxing BANG.!

Olympics 2012

thanks to wikipedia for this image click here to find it

swifter, higher, stronger is the well known motto of the olympic games. This motto is not only to introduce the Games but to encourage the athletes because it is not just about winning its about giving it your all and taking place in this amazing event . they compare each athlete to another without understanding them.

The flame of the olympic games is lit in Olympia greece. It is then carried by relay to the host city months before the games and can only be lit by the suns rays. It is best known for the origins of the first olympic game in olympia. It is then extinguished once the games are gonners.

the lighting of the cauldron is lit by the last runner of the flame.once it is the closing ceremony the flame is then extinguished.that is the signal that the olympics are officially over.

Matty Bowen

“Fend Oh Matty Bowen straight across the face of Lachlan Coote.” He is my favourite player.this famous guy was named the best full back. He was NRL’s top try scorer two times. These times were in 2005 and 2007. Matt has played ten games for queensland in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.The name I call him is Matty bowen. Matty is an inspiration to my uncle and I.

Mathew jeremy bowen was born on 9th of march 1982.Matty Bowen grew up in Cape York a place in an aussie community in Hopevile. He went to Abogowrie college by ingham. At the age of twelve Bowen played leauge as a school boy. He was so good he caught the eye of NRL clubs in Sydney and Brisbane. In 2000 Matty Bowen starred in the Cowboys.

Matty Bowen made his first grade debut to NRL in 2001 febuary the 17th the cowboys arch enemys the brisbane broncos. In townsville dairy farmers stadium. In 2003 he rep’d Queensland in state of origin.

here a list of his achivements.2005: Leading tryscorer (21) 2007: Leading tryscorer, top this in REAL NRL 22, 2007: Dally M Fullback of the Year, 2007: Rugby League Professionals Association's Player of the Year, 2007: Cowboys' Player of the Year, 2007: North Queensland Cowboys Player's Player of the Year, 2011: Most matches played for the North Queensland Cowboys with a stunning record of 204. I don’t think any one could top that much records except for benji marshall or billy slater.

The best try from Bowen for me was when he was about 30 metres from the try line and then suddenly. POP the ball came out of the scrum he dummyed then ran all the way from the scrum and goose stepped and then. TRY.heres a clip of it The second try is the one I like. The best fend from him was in the panthers game with lachlan coote. He smacked his hand in his shoulder and coote went flying back and matty gassed it to the tryline. Then TRY.

Skull Reflection.

I attempted to copy the original painting of Skull by Vincent Van Gogh.  I  used paint brush strokes the same way, though the elements are not quite the same. I think that my colours are good but mine does not look like his that much. The way he used his techniques to make the shading light and dark is pretty good and I think I done well with that to.

The similarities between my painting and Van Gogh’s picture is the background because I faintly showed the detail in the brush strokes. I made the shadowing the same by pressing hard to make the paint go darker and lightly brushed it to make it light.

Another thing I thought was good is the detail of the crack on the skull because it is thick in the places it needs to be, and small in the places it doesn’t.  I made it shaped the way it needs to go as well.

The difference between my working and Van Goghs are the brush strokes, because my ones go in a circular pattern, and his are horizontal. I think I still made mine look like his though. I felt proud of it still.

I think Van Gogh trying to tell us that he is death and  Skull’sl painting.  He felt that time he painted this picture and he thinks life is like the painting to him.

I am not happy with the fact that I used too much black on the outlines and the fact that I made the skull to small because Van Goghs almost takes up the whole paper.

By painting over it and make my skull  larger because he paints things big and bald because if he was alive he would tell me to make it bigger

I feel happy about my painting because it was my second attempt at painting and I enjoyed it.
